Operational coverage, strategies and thematic interventions


ADHIKAR focuses to empower the poor and the marginalized to access their entitlements by imparting to them the required knowledge of the provisions, skills and confidence to approach the concerned authorities to realise their eligible entitlements.
Focus Group:
Marginalized and socially excluded communities, who are denied of their rights, would be the focus groups of ADHIKAR programme.

Gist of strategies
Community Mobilization
Mobilizing the community is the crucial to involve them in the implementation of the project and helping them to internalize the concept of the project.  The project aims to mobilize the community through awareness camps, street plays, competitions, various campaigns on the entitlements of the people.  Awareness will be created among the people on the project objectives, entitlements to be achieved and so on.
Formation and strengthening of Community Based Organizations
CBOs are part and parcel of addressing social issues and advocating changes in the society. Therefore, partners will form various groups in their areas to accelerate the process of realizing entitlements. Respective groups will function as pressure groups for accessing various entitlements by eligible beneficiaries. To achieve the results, partners will form and strengthen  women Self help groups, Adolescent groups, Disabled groups, Farmers groups, Village Education Committees, Village Health and Sanitation Committees, Parents and Teachers Associations, Pregnant women associations, Lactating mothers associations, Farmers cooperatives, Workers Unions and Forea.
Convergence of frontline service providers, government departments and like minded organizations
The project will focus on developing network and linkage with frontline service providers such as ANMs, ASHA workers, Anganvadi Worker for enabling the community to obtain services without any hesitation. Also ADHIKAR programme will focus on establish linkage with Government departments at GP, block and district levels to facilitate the process smoothly. In addition, partner would facilitate community to obtain eligible entitlements from ICDS, KVK, NABARD, Banks, Social welfare office, Agriculture office etc.
Capacity building of CBOs, PRI members and frontline service providers
The knowledge and skills of the community based organizations, PRI members, ANM’s, ASHA workers etc. will be enhanced through various capacity building programs such as in-house trainings, workshops, exposure programs discussions and meetings. The synergy of the CBOs will be tapped to undertake pertinent issues with a special focus on right based approach. Through which CBOs, front line service providers and PRIs would deliver their services effectively for the betterment of marginalized.
Advocacy and Lobbying
The project will focus on Advocacy efforts through the existing people’s structures on the issues and problems faced by the people in availing their due entitlements.   The concerned pressure groups will meet the concerned government departments and pressurize them to enable beneficiaries to obtain their entitlements irrespective of caste, class and gender.
